Securing democratic rights

We live in a time of intense attacks on the multiracial democracy our movements have worked hard to build. Threats that have been growing for decades now come to life through a presidency fueled by white supremacy and crony capitalism, which sees our diversity as a threat instead of a strength. Our Democracy team pushes back on those threats and works to create true multiracial democracy where all communities’ interests are met. We fight for free and fair elections and protect our people when they vote. We ally with community, labor, and civil rights groups to insist that California’s democracy stays safe and accessible to all. And we work to ensure that core democratic practices like census counting benefit the people.
