Demystifying public budgets

California’s communities face devastating harm from H.R. 1 that compound ongoing housing, grocery, and energy affordability crises. We must push back to win new, equitable revenues to put California on more stable footing. The Equitable Budgets team works with grassroots partners to help communities of color demystify government budgets and knowledgeably discuss their needs with lawmakers. Too often, jargon-laden public budgets block our communities from meaningful participation in setting elected officials’ financial priorities. This team provides the analysis, tools, and planning to decipher those budgets and build collective advocacy for the improvements we want in our cities, counties, and state.
